Ph. 2 - 80,000 sf
Ph. 3 - 103,000 sf
Triangle Life Sciences (TLS), a California developer, teamed with Computer Sciences Corporation (CSC) in a national federal competition for a Tier III Data Center for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. TLS and CSC proposed the renovation of a former federal facility in Research Triangle Park. O’Brien Atkins served as the Architect, MEP Engineer and Site Designer.
The team designed the required Tier III data center infrastructure, as defined by the Uptime Institute, to support an ultimate capacity of 100W/sf for IT equipment and critical power and cooling. The design met DOD’s Antiterrorism Standards for Buildings within the design standards of a world class research park. It allowed for concurrent maintenance and a 24/7 operation.
The construction on Phase 1 (69,000 sf) was well underway when the team was notified that another state had been awarded the project.
